The Night Circus Book Cover
The goal of this project was to design a cover for The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern in a way that captured the novel’s mystery, magic, and romantic tension. Heavily inspired by the story’s use of tarot cards, the concept draws on themes of fate, duality, illusion, and control, informed by close analysis of recurring imagery such as clocks, moons, and stars. A limited black, white, and red palette reflects the circus’s aesthetic, while symmetrical composition and fine line ornamentation reference traditional tarot card structure. The central hands and three rings symbolize the magicians’ duel, their binding competition, and the interconnectedness of the characters’ fates.
